Toyota stops Fortuner SUV Booking Again; To Reopen in January 2011 Toyota just doesn’t seem to be able to handle the overwhelming demand of Fortuner SUV in India. With only a month since it reopened the bookings, the car maker has stopped taking any new orders of the SUV again. “Bookings for the Fortuner were reopened between the 1st and 31st of July, which got the company an additional 3,004 bookings, taking the total number of (remaining) customer orders to over 6,056,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said. The company claimed that the backlog will be cleared by the end of this year, and bookings would reopen again in January 2011. While the deliveries for new orders would start in October and end in December 2010. Source The Economic Times.

Toyota India has finally decided to launch the Fortuner after years of speculation and delays. It is expected to hit Indian Showrooms in March 2009. Part of the reason for its delay may be because Toyota might have wanted to launch the facelifted version rather than the old model and partly because the Bidadi factory lacked enough manpower and hence Toyota has not been concentrating on it all this time.

Toyota Fortuner Model Change 2011
Toyota Fortuner 2011 Toyota Motors is celebrating one year of its premium SUV model Fortuner in India. The company has announced the introduction of the ‘Fortuner Anniversary Edition’. It has already sold over 10,000 models since it was first launched last year on August 24, 2010. Toyota has introduced only 250 units Toyota Fortuner of the limited edition model which will be available only on Pearl White colour. There are only minor changes on the exterior which include body colored spoilers from the front and rear bumper and rear roof. The exhaust muffler is now coated with chrome garnishing to make it special. At its heart, the anniversary edition Toyota Fortuner comes with 3.0 L TDCI D-4D, DOHC diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box. An “Anniversary Edition” label is also present on the tailgate emphasising the limited variant.
