Nissan Skyline GTR: A Racer That Is Affordable

Nissan Skyline GTR: A Racer That Is Affordable
source : john-eva.co.uk If you've ever eyed a Porsche 911 or a Ferrari Testarossa, but thought the price was too steep, the Nissan Skyline GTR is a sports coupe that is considered reasonably priced. The Nissan Skyline GTR made headlines through the 70s and 90s as a Japanese-made car that quickly gained the respect of numerous car-related publications. A wide-range of motoring magazines noted the performance and handling capacity of this particular vehicle, which earned a place beside European industry greats. When it comes to competitors in the business, the Nissan Skyline GTR was often compared to the Toyota Supra, Mitsubishi Lancer, Honda NSX, as well as the Mazda RX-7. Owning one of the earlier models delivers a nice piece of history. Throughout the years, the Skyline brand of cars has a history that is actually connected to a different auto company from Nissan. The Prince automobile company was the first business to establish and create a variety of Skyline sedans. All of this came to an end when a merger involving Nissan-Datsun occurred. The naming of the GTR in the Nissan Skyline GTR brand name stands for Gran Turismo Racer. A hyphen was added to separate and make emphasis on the 'racer' part of the name. Soon, the car gained a reputation on the market, breeding additional models. The next GTR brought the public the PGC10 2000 GTR, which offered four doors. A two-door version of the automobile was created next and given the name, the KPGC10. The car also became a fixture on the racing scene. In a timeframe of one and a half years, the car had 33 victories under its belt. By the time the car was discontinued in 1972, the car had earned a total of 1000 wins. In Zama, you may visit the last of the original GTRs, which faired rather poorly in sales due to an energy crisis that stretched across the globe. Less than 200 sales of the KPGC110 2000GT-R were noted. In 1989, after a spell from production, the KPGC110 Skyline GTR was reintroduced to the public as the Nissan Skyline R32. Advanced technology set it ahead of the competition, including on-demand four-wheel drive capabilities. The car was also reasonably ...

Affordable Performance Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T

Affordable Performance Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T
courtesy : wise.k12.va.us/span> In 1993 the all new Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25-T replaced the successful R32 GTS- T. Little brother to the all conquering GTR the GTS25-T is more affordable and still a thrilling ride. It features a more modern new shape with smooth lines rather than the sharp edges of the previous model. The new looks were debatable some liked the newer styling of the R33 and some preferred the harder edges of the R32. On the road with the R33 the first thing you notice is how smooth the R25DET engine is power delivery is linier and the car pulls hard from 3000rpm to the 7000 rpm redline. The manual coupe version will propel you from 0-100 in 6.18 seconds and complete the quarter in 14.4. Maximum power is 187kw at 6400 and a max torque 295nm at 4800. The RB25DET is a ripper and featured technology ahead of it time. The 2.5 liter turbo intercooled straight 6 features a twin cam head with variable valve timing on the intake side. Handling of the coupe is great with a good balance between comfort and a sports like feel. The rear of the car steered by a system called HICAS which works by calculating the speed and angle of the car through the corners. This feature seems to minimize under- steer and kept the car flat through the corner. The rear on the car is equipped with a viscous LSD and steps out ever so progressively when pushing hard. This makes the car easy to control but if pushed to hard it would be easy to loose the rear end. The skyline is a medium size coupe weighing in at 1360kg and when cornering its a great drive but not quiet as direct or nibble though the bends as the lighter R32 was. But light suspension modifications improve handling significantly. In Australia a good series 1 GTS25-T can be picked up for around $17,000 and a series 2 for around 20,000. With standard features including electric windows and climate control I thinks it is great value for money. With light modifications to the engine and suspension this car can be turned into a street weapon. Glenn Munn has been a sports car Enthusiast for many Years. More information and tuning ...

Nissan GTR For Sale

Nissan GTR For Sale
courtesy : yosax.com Now in its second year, the GT-R, Nissan's iconic supercar, roared onto the scene for the 2010 model year. The inception year, in which the Nissan GT-R for sale experienced far more success than anyone expected, was a tough act to follow. The Nissan GT-R had its work cut out for it. Did Nissan exceed? The answer to that question is a resounding yes, if for no other reason than the reprogramming of the launch control system that had caused so many problems in the 2009 edition. The 2010 Nissan GT-R for sale is a high-performance sports coupe with 2+2 seating available at two trim levels. The base trim includes 20-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, power front seats, Brembo brakes, xenon headlights, and an electronically adjustable suspension. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity, a 6-speaker CD/MP3 sound system with satellite radio, a navigation system with a 30GB hard drive, and a driver-configurable multifunction information monitor. On top of that impressive package, the Premium trim level adds heated front seats and higher performance tires. Nissan also upgrades the audio package to an 11-speaker Bose system with dual subwoofers. There are also three options. One is the Cold Weather package including Dunlop all-season tires and a unique coolant-to-water ratio that Nissan installs at no additional charge. The "Super Silver" paint scheme and the iPod connectivity come at an additional charge. Under the hood, the all-wheel-drive 2010 Nissan GT-R for sale includes a 3.8-liter V6 with twin-turbochargers that provides an exhilarating 485 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. Nissan pairs the engine with a 6-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. With this setup, the Nissan GT-R powers from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, and it accomplishes the quarter-mile in less than 12 seconds at a top speed near 120 mph. Not that anyone in the market for a Nissan GT-R for sale will care, but the EPA estimates fuel performance as 16 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined. The Nissan GT-R's interior is driver-focused, and it does an amazing job providing a near-perfect driving experience for short periods. However, the interior is otherwise a bit on the minimalist side. The quality of what is there is quite high, and it all gives the impression of master craftsmanship. The snug sport-style bucket ...

The Ultimate Nissan Skyline GTR: – NISMO Z-TUNE

The Ultimate Nissan Skyline GTR: – NISMO Z-TUNE
source : jdmcars.info With the 34 GTR no longer in production Nismo decided to attempt building what they believed to be the ultimate Nissan Skyline GTR. Utilizing many years experience within different racing scenes it could be argued that Nismo should have the ability to do exactly that. This vehicle was to benefit from the many years of success Nismo had within motor racing. Successful race cars include the Gr.-A, N1, GT500, and the "Nürburgring specification," This car had be comfortable for the street and comply with today's new and strict emission laws, perhaps Nismo's biggest challenge to date. The basic concept of the car was completed in 2000 when Nismo competed in what was called the "tuners battle" power was restricted to 600ps and Nismo came out on top. This concept was then taken to the next level were luxuries had to be added to make the car comfortable for street use. Making a race car street friendly has many challengers brake and clutch feel needs to be light and easy to use, suspension needs to softer, and luxuries like Leather seats and air-conditioning need to be added. All these luxuries add weight so Nismo had to find a way to shed it and carbon fiber was the answer. This killed two birds with one stone by using carbon fiber chassis rigidity was also improved. To improve chassis rigidity even furthers the, doorframes, front strut upper hood reinforcement area and center tunnels were all spot-welded and CFRP adhered. The aero parts of the car including the front bumper, front blister fenders, and hood were all made of highly ridged carbon fiber. Aero parts were designed with cooling and down force in mind. The front bumper has large air ducts so cool air is fed to the engine, brakes and oil coolers. Fenders were widened 15mm to fit wider tread and has ducts inside the engine bay to exhaust hot air from the engine bay. The bonnet also contains ducts to exhaust hot air and utilizes a duct to ram cool air into the intake at high speeds. Front and rear under spoilers are used to improve down force. Beating in the heart of the Nissan Skyline is a race edition RB26DETT which had proven itself lemans 24 hour race and named the Z2. This engine generates 368kw and ...
